Lawn Care Development Program

Our lawn care program consist of regularly scheduled fertilization and weed control applications that result in a healthier, lush, green, great looking “Paradise lawn”. Local soil conditions do not have enough nutrients to do this alone. We at Paradise Lawns take routine soil samples to analyze the soil’s fertility and nutrient levels so we can determine the most beneficial products for your lawn. We balance our blends of fertilizer with the needed nutrients into six applications for a complete lawn care program, thus achieving the best possible results unmatched by our competitors. Developing a successful lawn care program requires both technical knowledge and turf management experience which you have come to expect and will continue to receive with Paradise Lawns. All of our technicians are licensed by the State of IL, Dept. of Agriculture, guarantying you the best possible results.

Early Spring – Our first application is essential because it nourishes your lawn by replenishing the nutrients used during the winter months and promoting early spring green color. We also apply a weed control along with a pre-emergent barrier to control crabgrass.

Late Spring – During this application, we nourish your lawn again with a balanced slow and fast release fertilizer with additional micro-nutrients to maintain color, density, promote root growth and to build carbohydrate reserves that will be needed during the summer months. A weed control is also applied to control any broadleaf weeds that may have started to grow.

Summer – The late summer months can stress any lawn. During this application, a balanced fertilizer is applied to help in heat and drought hardiness, wear tolerance and disease resistance. A broad spectrum weed control is also used to treat summer weeds such as Nutsedge. Customers that choose to add the Grub Control treatment to their lawn care program will receive it in conjunction with the Summer application. For more information on our Grub Control treatment, please see below.

Late Summer – During this application, a blend of slow release fertilizer will assist your lawn through the summer heat and humidity by adding the essential nutrients to your lawn, promoting good green color and rebuilding the carbohydrate reserves that have been depleted. Any late summer broadleaf weeds will be treated along with any on-going Nutsedge that has surfaced.

Fall – Our fall treatment will help restore your lawn from the summer stress, providing the much needed nutrients and micro-nutrients which will contribute greatly to turf color, density, uniformity and growth rate. As with all of our treatments, any weed growth will be treated.

Winter – Our final treatment of the season builds carbohydrate reserves for the winter months, provides cold hardiness, boosts root growth and allows for an early spring green-up with ample fertility for early spring growth.

Grub Control Treatment

Grub worms are the larval stage of beetles. During the early summer months, they are typically found just below the surface of the ground. Grubs usually go unnoticed until the results of their feeding on the root system in your lawn are observed. An active grub population can easily destroy your lawn in a very short period of time. Grub damage is by far the most common type of damage sustained in turf grasses throughout the United States.  In addition to the grubs causing damage themselves, their presence tends to attract animals, such as moles, voles, birds, mice, rats, gophers, groundhogs, raccoons and skunks, who love to feed on an active grub population; thus, causing further damage to your lawn. During our Summer lawn care treatment, a granular supplement is added to the fertilizer for customers who choose to have this optional service added to their lawn care program for season long guaranteed control of grub worms and other surface feeding insects.

Ornamental Tree & Shrub Program

This highly effective insecticide program is used to control damaging insects such as Japanese beetles, bagworms, mites, grasshoppers and other leaf-chewing insects. Our 5 application broad spectrum systemic program includes a combination of dormant oil and liquid pest control products that will protect all of your valuable ornamental trees, shrubs, landscape plantings and floral plantscapes.  This program is not a fertilization program.  For information on our landscape plantings fertilization program, please refer to Deep Root Fertilization on the reverse side.

Lawn Mowing Service

Lawn mowing is a fundamental part of your lawn care program, done more often than any other service. Our ongoing presence allows us to continuously monitor the health of your lawn, addressing any issues as they arise. Properly mowed lawns will have fewer weeds, allow for better moisture penetration, provide more stress tolerance and give an overall healthier look to your yard, adding value to your property. Professional mowing requires attention to the turf type, environmental conditions and mowing height, direction and frequency; all key factors for a healthy lawn. We start with commercial grade mowers with razor sharp blades for an even, clean cut without damaging the grass blade. Trimming, edging and clean-up of clippings are included with every cut. We offer completely customizable mowing schedule options including weekly, bi-weekly, as needed, or occasional, great for times while you are away on vacation or just need some extra time for other activities.

Perimeter Pest Control

Target the insects where they live…outside! By eliminating the insects around the perimeter of a building or home, we are keeping them from entering the household through cracks in the foundation, doorways and windows. This service targets more than 180 different insects including ants, spiders, crickets, fleas, ticks, silver fish and roaches.

Total Lawn Pest Control

Much like Perimeter Pest Control, this service targets the insects living within the lawn. Ants, spiders, fleas, ticks, crickets, sod web worms, and hundreds of more insects that can be controlled.

Deep Root Fertilization

Deep root fertilization is the most effective method for fertilizing trees and shrubs. Through this process, a liquid, time-released fertilizer is pressure-injected in a grid pattern, below the surface of the ground, down into the root zone of the tree or shrub. Well nourished trees and shrubs have better resistance to disease, and drought. Deep root fertilizing can help keep your trees and shrubs healthier, promoting the luxurious foliage that adds beauty and value to your property. This service is not an insecticide program.  For insecticide control, please refer to the Ornamental Tree & Shrub Program on the reverse side.

Core Aeration

The process of removing plugs of thatch and soil from the lawn. Most turf grasses growing in heavy clay or poor soils benefit greatly from annual aeration to reduce thatch buildup and more importantly, relieve soil compaction. This treatment will help improve the recycling flow of air, water, and nutrients to the root system. This, in turn, will help to rejuvenate your grass by allowing the roots to grow deeper, creating healthier grass plants and keeping your lawn thicker, greener and healthier.

Seeding

We only use a top quality blend that contains a variety of five fescue grasses and a bluegrass. This optimal combination allows for a rich, dense, healthy lawn all season long.  Grass is like any other living plant; it grows weaker as it ages. To keep your lawn from looking old and tired, we will determine and recommend which of the following seeding options would be most beneficial to keep it looking exquisite year after year.

Overseeding: The perfect compliment to our fall core aeration service. The cores created by aeration are the optimum breeding grounds for the seeds to successfully germinate.

Power Seeding: The process in which a machine with knife-like blades creates slits in your lawn and then drops grass seed into the slits. The knife blades are designed to minimize damage to the lawn. Power seeding is the fastest way to restore a weak lawn and to achieve optimum seed germination. Power seeding can be used for touch-ups of small bare areas, or for complete lawn renovations.
